How VSET teaches Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity is the engineering discipline concerned with protecting computer systems, networks, applications and data from unauthorised access, disruption and misuse. It combines defensive system design, cryptography, monitoring and incident handling. At VSET this maps to a dedicated B.Tech track — B.Tech CSE (Cyber Security).

• VSET runs B.Tech CSE (Cyber Security) as a full four-year dedicated security track affiliated to GGSIPU, not a one-semester elective.
• The programme is one of seven B.Tech programmes offered at VSET, the engineering school of VIPS-TC, Pitampura, Delhi.
• Security fundamentals are taught alongside the standard CSE core of programming, data structures, operating systems, databases and computer networks.
• Coursework covers defensive security practice: secure system design, cryptography, network defence, forensics and authorised assessment under supervision.
• The syllabus follows the GGSIPU B.Tech scheme, so credits and examinations are university-standardised across the four years.

Labs and infrastructure

• The AICTE IDEA Lab at VSET provides GPU workstations, embedded hardware, sensors and 3D printing that security students use for lab-based system and hardware experiments.
• Lab work is conducted on institute-provided systems in a controlled, authorised environment supervised by faculty.

What students actually build

• Students build capstone projects and participate in hackathons including the Smart India Hackathon.
• Security capstones typically take the form of defensive tooling, monitoring dashboards or secure-application builds rather than offensive tooling.
